Boal, Olsen in limelight of Warwick Cricket
RSL Diggers paceman Glen Boal and Warwick Hotel Colts batsman Jimmy Olsen were the stars of Warwick cricket on Saturday.
Boal produced his best bowling for the past 15 years to steer RSL Diggers to a five-wicket victory against Sovereign Animals in Saturday's cricket at Slade Park.
Olsen belted 124 not out for Colts in a 150-run victory against Railway Hotel Rascals at the Queens Park turf.
Boal, the left-armer from Loch Lomond, opened the bowling with his cousin Pat Gribbin and bowled eight overs straight for Diggers.
"The wickets were spread out through my spell," he said.
"This was my first bowling for two years so I have a few sore muscles."
Two of the victims were bowled, two LBW and one caught by Kev Poole on the drive.
"It was great to play and not too hot ... I mainly fill in if Diggers are short," Boal said.
"We are pretty busy on the farm so I don't get time to play too often."
Batting first, Sovereign made 128, Damien Canning top scoring with 30.
Boal received best support from Luke Cullen with 2-23 off eight overs.
Kev Poole hit an unbeaten 41 to steer Diggers to 5-130 and victory.
In the game at the Queens Park turf, Olsen came to the wicket at first drop and was unbeaten on 124 as Colts made 270 against Rascals.
J Moore and Nick Van Der Poel each took two wickets.
Pat Gayle top scored with 32 not out in the Rascals score of 8-120. Cameron Peterson took two wickets.
The Malone brothers added 119 for the seventh wicket to set up the Wheatvale victory against leaders Inglewood at Wheatvale on Saturday.
After coming together at 6-98, Chris, who made 69, was more aggressive and set the tone for Wheatvale while Brendan (80no) was slightly more moderate but chanceless.
The pair virtually put the game out of the reach of Inglewood. Nick Campbell was the best of the Inglewood bowlers with 2-29 off eight overs.
Matt Shaw, David Elsley and Ted Callaghan each took two wickets.
In reply, Inglewood lost Campbell in the first over to a great caught and bowled by Jack Breen.
Garth Miller came in at number three with no runs on the board and batted almost all the way through the Inglewood innings to compile an impressive 54 before holing out on the boundary to Chris Malone off the bowling of Chris Cantwell.
Ty Jenner took 2-7 off three overs for Wheatvale and Chris Malone 2-21 off six overs.
