Every day’s wonderful for Daphne, at 103

YOU'RE never too old to sing a cheeky tune in the shower - just ask Daphne Burton.

The Buderim resident turned 103 yesterday.

Rather than considering the date a milestone, Daphne said the birthday was just like any other day.

"Life today is like every day - and every day is wonderful," she said.

Daphne contributed her good health and happiness to Stan, her husband of 76 years.

She said "love" was the secret to a long lifetime.

Stan, 97, made his way over to visit Daphne in her Immanuel Gardens Retirement Village unit from his hostel across the road.

"If two people get on and take care of each other, they will have a healthy life," Stan said.

Former carer Annette Limpus said Daphne's age was just a number not to be confused with her young mind and soul.

"She still sings in the shower ... and Stan will wonder what is going on in there," Mrs Limpus said.

"She's a happy little chappy.

"She'll always make you feel welcome.''
