Harwood wins the Olsen Shield

AFTER a break of six years, Harwood House won the Olsen Shield for house supremacy in Warwick East State School athletics.

Harwood won in 2004, Quinn in 2005, Garland the next year and Quinn from 2007 to 2009.

The house trophy, which was presented yesterday, was donated by businessman Lyn Olsen in 1967.

The closest battle for an age championship was in the 11 years boys’ age group when Thomas Burton won with 44 points from runner-up Tye Thompson. Harwood captain Aimee Van Der Hulst led from the front to score the most points in any age group, with 66.

She started the two-day carnival by breaking the 12 and 13 years high jump record on Tuesday.

Madelyn Hansen broke records in nine years shot put and discus and Alexis Carey broke a 10 years long jump record.
