State government guts swathes of red tape for farmers
ABOUT 27,000 farmers and landowners can spend more time farming under a new Queensland Government measure.
Treasurer Tim Nicholls said farmers and landholders would no longer have to renew their water licences.
The change is part of the Newman government's target to cut red tape by 20% by 2018.
From January 2015, small to medium businesses with a payroll tax liability of less than $20,000 will only have to lodge two returns a year, down from 12.
Mr Nicholls said in parliament on Tuesday the changes would impact 7000 businesses.
He estimated about 40,000 hours spent on paperwork and $2 million in administrations costs would be saved. - APN NEWSDESK
