Many Warwick Wolves now into futsal in off-season
THERE isn't an off-season for many in football, they just go indoors in summer.
That is the case with many of the Warwick Wolves players after a successful season in the Stanthorpe competition.
Warwick finished third in the senior men's competition this season with Cameron Davey winning the coaches' player award.
Davey said he was excited to be recognised by the coaches.
"I didn't miss a game all season and I want to win a premiership in Stanthorpe, we were second in our first year and then lost the major semi-final and preliminary final this year," Davey said.
"Hopefully we can build a stronger team and win everything next year."
He is playing for the Billy Goats team in A-grade futsal, which is equal first with Jager Bombs.
"Our games are always close between the teams," he said.
"A lot of the A-grade football players are spread out across the teams.
"There are many new players in the three competitions this season."
In senior colts football, Warwick won the grand final for the first time in 2014 with Jayden Webb the coaches' player award winner.
Other trophy winners this season in men's football were Joshua Jordan (men's) and Kieran Power (senior colts) who won most improved awards.
Casey Baguley (men's) and Sam McLennan (senior colts) won awards for most committed.
Davey is playing in the weekly futsal competition at WIRAC, which has attracted 17 teams.
