Maryvale Hall to celebrate 100 years in style

ALMOST 100 people are expected to gather at the Maryvale Hall tomorrow night to celebrate its 100th anniversary with a dinner and concert.

The hall has been used for various social events throughout the town's history and it is still home to arts and crafts groups and cards tournaments.

Joint organiser Christine Richards said she remembered the dances at the hall fondly.

"The dances were extremely enjoyable," Mrs Richards said.

"We used to pack a couple of hundred people in.

"It was so hot because of the body heat.

"They had to open the windows in the middle of winter."

Fellow organiser Frank Roche said many people who now lived in other locations were coming back just for the celebrations.

Tickets are still available, contact Frank and Madonna Roche on 4666 1119 for further information.
