School of Total Education celebrates graduates

GUEST speaker Fr Hal Ranger had a special message for Year 12 graduates from The School of Total Education at the parents' seminar and Year 12 graduation ceremony in the Vijayadev Yogendra Auditorium on Sunday.

Fr Ranger, of St Patrick's Cathedral, Toowoomba, spoke to the graduates and parents on "being yourself - holding true to your values".

"Life is about making your special contribution, to make the world more faithful, more just and more loving," Fr Ranger said.

"Embrace your own unique gifts.

"Life isn't a competition. Respect and take delight in the gifts of others."

The ceremony was described by principal Shane Power as "a very moving occasion", with each graduate acknowledging the dedication of their teachers and the support they had experienced from the school community.

"The graduation ceremony is a function for all students," he said.

"It is an affirmation of the school's conviction that, given the right environment and input, every student can achieve his or her potential."

Near the end of the official part of the parents' seminar and Year 12 graduation, Mr Power welcomed some new parents and students to the school community who were at the ceremony on Sunday.

He also thanked retiring School Governing Council chairman Dr Paul Currie who was part of the official party at the graduation.

Year 12 graduates for 2013 were Molli Devine, Ruby Doolan, Louis Faa, Samuel Johnson, Travis Martin, Gerard Settgast, Imogen Sloss, Sequoya Stubbings, Clancy Wall and Lauren Yuile.
