Spiegeltent set to seduce the Brisbane Festival with Limbo

CARNIVAL act Limbo is expected to light up South Bank's Spiegeltent at this year's Brisbane Festival which begins today.

Organisers say an exotic mix of outlandish circus skills, live music and sexy humour is expected to create sophisticated, glitzy big top experience, not unlike last year's La Soire offering.

Brisbane Festival Artistic Director Noel Staunton said the dirty and dangerous circus cabaret pushed all the boundaries.

"The Spiegeltent 9.30pm show always leaves audiences wanting more and Limbo will be no exception, with the internationally renowned group of performers promising to put on an outrageous spectacle each night for the people of Brisbane," Mr Staunton said.

"LIMBO is an eclectic show that seduces and enthrals and audiences are guaranteed to leave with a spring in their step and a smile on their face."

South Bank will be transformed into a dazzling spectacle of music, light and laughs throughout September when it once again becomes the focal point of the festival.

The free light garden - a tangled forest of natural bamboo, light and sound - will sprout up at the Cultural Forecourt over the three weeks.

Another new addition to South Bank's festivities will be the dazzling labyrinth Exxopolis from Architects of Air, where towering 10 metre inflatable domes filled with twisting tunnels and hidden sanctuaries are flooded with colour, thanks to specially created PVC plastic.

Visitors can enjoy free music and roving entertainment at South Bank throughout the festival, including four evenings of free musical performances with a twilight music series.

"We have got a wonderful mix of sights and sounds lined up this year, so whether you are looking to unwind, have a laugh or dance the night away, you will definitely find something that captures your imagination," Mr Staunton said.
