Umpire to discuss laws of cricket
AN umpire who stood in 42 Tests will be in Warwick on August 15 to discuss the laws of cricket to players, parents, current and future umpires.
David Orchard officiated in Test cricket while living in South Africa and now works for Queensland Cricket.
Warwick Cricket Association president Ivor Hill said he was hoping 30 people would attend the seminar on August 15 from 9am to 3pm in the Sportsman’s Room at the Condamine Sports Club.
“The seminar and lunch is free due to Queensland Cricket sponsorship,” Hill said.
“Each participant will receive new copies of the Laws of Cricket booklet and the changes to the laws down the years will be highlighted on the day.
“I hope most that come along will do courses in the future to become accredited umpires.
“I am also keen for a lot of the parents of our juniors to come along. The better the umpiring, the better the cricket.”
Bookings to Hill on 4661 2266 (w), 4661 9007 (h) or Col O’Brien 4667 1233.
