Threat of fire extreme for Maranoa and Darling Downs
THE Bureau of Meteorology has issued a fire warning for the Maranoa and Darling Downs regions today.
A hot and very dry air mass over most of Queensland is expected to produce an extreme fire danger across the Southern Downs.
The trough is moving further into the state with hot, dry, fresh to strong and gusty winds expected.
Warwick is tipped to reach a top of 31 degrees today, while temperatures to 41 degrees, relative humidity down to 5% and winds to about 50kmh are expected for the Maranoa and Warrego district, and far western parts of the Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.
There is a severe fire danger for the remainder of the Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts, as well as southern parts of the North West and Central West districts.
The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service, Rural Fire Service Queensland advises that fires will be uncontrollable and fast moving.
