Turkish mine disaster kills more than 300 and counting
THE death toll from Turkey's worst mining disaster has risen to more than 300 people.
Energy Minister Taner Yildiz told Sky News Australia at the weekend the rescue attempts were ongoing.
"All corners of the mine were searched by a large team and there was no other body or living person," he said.
"We had focused on search and rescue efforts.
"Now we will be focusing on investigations, on what will happen about production.
"We will not be leaving (Soma) because the search efforts are ending."
Another 485 miners escaped or were rescued from the May 13 explosion that devastated a coal mine in Soma in western Turkey.
