Warwick takes out Tansey for Grayson Family Trophy

CAPTAIN Cameron Shepherd won the best player award as Warwick 1 beat Tansey 1 20-7 in the A-grade final for the Grayson Family Trophy at the annual Killarney Polocrosse Club carnival.

Cameron played in a section with Warwick Fraser and junior Anthony Wells.

The second section was Tom Cobon, Braden Beck and Matthew Shepherd.

Cameron said Anthony Wells performed well in his first carnival with an A-grade winning team.

"He played number three, his preferred position in defence," he said.

"Braden Beck and Tom Cobon are both intermediates, Braden moved with his family from the Northern Territory and joined the Warwick club. It is always good to beat Tansey; they also fielded a lot of young players in their side."

Carnival co-ordinator Col Bloomfield rated the carnival a great success.

"The weather is beautiful and the fields are playing perfectly," he said.

"It has been an injury-free weekend."

Action in south-east zone polocrosse will move to the Bony Mountain Recreation Reserve this weekend with the first Cunningham carnival for the season.
