A 220 square metre clubhouse takes shape at Morgan Park

AERO MODELLING: The Warwick Aero Modellers have erected a 220 square metre clubhouse at Barclay Field at Morgan Park.

Group treasurer John Robertson said there were also roofs erected over two, 18m by 6m, pit areas.

"The materials for the clubhouse came from Rob Laney in Warwick but the club did 90 per cent of the work concreting the floor and assembling the shed with help from the Southern Downs Industry and Education Association,” Robertson said.

"The association students gained experience in construction techniques working on the clubhouse.”

Some internal work remains to be done on the new clubhouse and members hope they can have an official opening in January.

The club grounds are also set up for camping for major events at the aero modellers and Morgan Park.

Two major events are coming up later this year, the F5J Glider competition on October 12-13 and the WAM Cup in pylon racing on October 20.

"The competitors will do 10 laps of a course around two pylons during the WAM Cup.

The club has 30 members and more recruits are welcome.

Prospective new members are welcome from 8am Sunday and 2.30pm each Wednesday.

"If the gate near the entrance to Morgan Park is open after those times, there will be club members on site and prospective members can see the facilities,” Robertson said.
