A bundle of new year joy for Stanthorpe family
HE ARRIVED a little earlier than expected, but marked a joyful start to the year for one Stanthorpe family.
Stanthorpe woman Jess Kaloczy was only due to head to Warwick Hospital today, but her new bundle of joy had other plans.
Harlin Doorley was born at Stanthorpe Hospital at 11.40pm on New Year's Day.
Harlin has two older siblings, Jye, 3, and Brylee, 1.
His father is Matthew Doorley.
Ms Kaloczy said it was fantastic to have Harlin arrive on New Year's Day.
"It's a bit exciting,” she said.
Ms Kaloczy said she came to realise her bundle of joy would making an early appearance on New Year's Eve.
After an emergency caesarian, she commended the Stanthorpe Hospital's staff for their great treatment.
"They were really, really good,” she said.
Harlin's grandmother, Angie Doorley, said she was thrilled to have another grandchild to kick off the new year.
"I was in the room when he was born,” she said.
"It was a great experience.
"I got to cut the cord and that was great. It's good to have another grandson.”
She said this meant she now had two grandsons and two granddaughters.
Registered midwife Jacinta Manahan was part of the team who looked after the birth.
Ms Manahan said this was a special experience for her.
"I've looked after Jessica for her other two babies there.”
Ms Manahan said one more baby was born in Stanthorpe Hospital on Tuesday night.
She said planned C-sections over the holidays had been booked into Warwick Hospital while Stanthorpe had new air-conditioning installed.
