A cheeky drop I think you’ll enjoy wearing

NOTHING screams Apple and Grape Harvest Festival quite like the infamous Grape Crush challenge.

Greg Thouard, compere of the event for 26 years this festival, said apart from the grand parade he would say the Grape Crush was the most popular event of the whole festival.

"Everybody loves to gather round the truck and enjoy the mayhem, havoc, laughter and just the fun that it is intended to be," Mr Thouard said.

There are three rounds of the grape crush including the celebrity crush, the media crush and the ambassador crush.

Launching proceedings in the afternoon is the celebrity grape crush with the familiar faces of Lawrence Springborg, MP, celebrity chef 'Fast' Ed Halmagyi, Bruce Scott, MP, Apple and Grape Committee president Trevor Fitness and one surprise guest to be announced on the day.

Mr Thouard said the celebrity crush was always a good one to watch, due largely to the shenanigans of Southern Downs MP and now Health Minister Springborg.

"If Lawrence concentrated more on crushing grapes than throwing them he'd have a job in the wine industry in no time," said Mr Thouard.

Following that will be the media crush, and finally the ambassador crush in which the lovely ambassadors go from their finery the night before at the Apple and Grape Ball to the absolute chaos of the Grape Crush on Saturday afternoon.

The crushing will begin today at 4pm following the grand parade.
