Man with kilo of weed, $53k cash granted bail

A DRAYTON man police claim was found with 1kg of marijuana and $53,000 in cash during a search of his home has been granted bail.

Peter Edward Buddee, 55, was to appear by prison video link to Toowoomba Magistrates Court yesterday for a hand-up committal hearing but the video link system wasn't working.

Instead, his solicitor Nathan Bouchier told the court he would take the charges up to the District Court by way of registry committal and that police had withdrawn the objection to bail on condition his client abided by strict bail conditions.

Buddee has not yet been required to enter pleas to charges of trafficking in dangerous drugs and associated matters arising from the police search of his Drayton home in May.

Mr Bouchier said his client was serving out a previous sentence but was due for release from custody on September 30.

Magistrate Graham Lee granted Buddee bail on the agreed conditions and adjourned the matter for mention back in the same court on October 17.
