A mate remembered over feast
GOURMET delights and mouth-watering desserts in the lunch room at Warwick's Big W Distribution Centre brought staff together to commemorate the second anniversary of the passing of former employee and beloved friend Rob Bayard.
Human Resource manager Ian Jamieson said the luncheon was a chance for staff to remember a man who touched many of their lives, and also to raise much-needed money for beyondblue.
"We've also tied it in with Harmony Day which isn't until next week but we thought we'd bring it forward and combine our international food lunch with the two year anniversary," Mr Jamieson said.
Staff members donated $5 a plate, and had the option to purchase other treats, with all funds going towards beyondblue.
"It's extremely important to celebrate things like Harmony Day and to get some community involvement behind it and also raise some funds for a really worthy charity (beyondblue) that we all feel very strongly about," Mr Jamieson said.
A handful of Warwick businesses, Eagle Boys, Cha-Belas, Shalimar and Brumbies donated food for the event.
Mr Jamieson said he hoped the DC could continue the luncheon on an annual basis.
