A special Show connection for Allora couple

THEY have over 120 years of combined history at the Allora Show, and this couple has shown no signs of slowing down.

Olive and Ray Shooter have a rich tradition of volunteering at the spectacle for the 'Best Little Town on the Downs', with Ray coming for 70 years, and Olive notching up 50.

The Shooters have been manning the stand at the grain and farm produce sections, serving as stewards there for many years.

Their lifetime of selfless volunteering has seen them both recognised as life members, something they hold dear to their hearts.

"It's an honour. Not everyone gets it, and they're not freely given out,” Mrs Shooter said. "We're pavilion flies, we like it the best. We've always been stewards, and to see everything coming in is great.”

Mr Shooter was born in Allora, and almost 55 years ago he convinced his partner to make the move from Nobby. The couple aren't the only Shooters involved, with their son a chief steward.
