A sport that spans ages is ladies Thursday night squash
PLAYERS of all ages are welcome to join Warwick ladies squash, which has been played for decades at various courts in the town.
Warwick ladies squash secretary Jill Hume remembers going to squash with her mother as a young child.
"That means I can remember ladies squash for at least 30 years,” Hume said.
"It has been played much longer and we have a number of second generation players.”
The ladies competition was traditionally played on a Tuesday morning but has reverted to Thursday night squash in more recent times.
"The Thursday night ladies squash is more targeted for ladies who want a relaxed social environment while developing their squash skills,” Hume said.
"Some of the ladies also play in Tuesday and Wednesday night Warwick Rose Squash Club competition.”
Hume said social fixtures were played on four lines (skill levels) with players having the opportunity for some games during the season against players from other lines.
The group have social activities like movie nights, race days and break-up dinners.
Two seasons are played each year. No fixtures in school holidays.
