A wet Christmas forecast for Granite Belt

SANTA will want to pack an umbrella when travelling to the Granite Belt on Christmas Eve, with showers forecast from tonight through the weekend.

Bureau of Meteorology forecaster Michael Paech said tomorrow will be mostly cloudy, with temperatures slightly lower than earlier this week.

"There's a chance of a shower or two around tomorrow and some drizzle tomorrow afternoon and in the evening," he said.

Stanthorpe and Granite Belt Chamber of Commerce President John Bylicki said the Christmas festivities will still be going ahead if it rains.

"Everything will go ahead, we'll just do what we normally do," he said.

"It'll be down in the piazza and undercover.

"(I would suggest to) bring an umbrella but it'll all go off alright."

Light rain is expected to stick around throughout the weekend.

"From Friday and through the weekend... we've got possible showers," Mr Paech said.

"There's just a chance on the odd shower floating around the weekend."
