A WoW effort for charity

GIVING back is embedded in the ethos of the Women of Warwick group, with the local ladies body donating more than $1100 to charity since starting up last year.

The latest charity to benefit from the WoW donations is the Smiling for Smiddy foundation.

A cheque for $100 was presented to Tracy Vellacott on behalf of the charity last week.

Mrs Vellacott thanked the WoW team for their donation.

"With the passing of Adam Smiddy's beautiful mum Maria recently, I couldn't be more proud to help Smiling for Smiddy and honour both Adam and Maria," she said.

At each women's breakfast, keynote speakers are asked to nominate a charity of their choice to receive a $100 donation.

WoW communications leader Sue Hamlet said most of the group's followers and guests were involved in charitable and service organisations.

"WoW seeks to complement those organisations by providing a place where women can refuel themselves with stories of interesting local women doing life authentically," she said.

"Feedback after events is that women are making positive changes in their lives to equip themselves and others to be more resilient, to upskill and expand their capability, and to reach out to others in ways that benefit the community."

Mrs Hamlet said the fact busy women took time to attend the bi-monthly breakfast events meant WoW was getting it right.

The next WoW breakfast - Row the Boat - will be held on August 4. Tickets on sale on Tuesday, July 14 at www. qrrrwnonline.wildapricot. org/events.
