ABC host caught with child porn 'released in January'

A FORMER children's television host, convicted of child pornography offences, is believed to have been released from jail a month early.

Andy Muirhead, ex-host of the ABC's Collectors program, was arrested in June last year after federal police found child exploitation material on his computer.

He told a Hobart court in August that his actions were "shameful, reckless and stupid".

Muirhead was jailed for seven months, but according to the Herald Sun, was released in January after "routine remissions" sliced a month off his sentence.

A $5000 good-behaviour bond will hang over his head for the next three years and he will remain on the Tasmanian sex offenders register for the next five.
