AFL reps conduct student workshop

TWO hundred students of the Warwick State High School attended a coaching workshop conducted by three representatives from the Darling Downs branch of AFL Queensland.

AFL Darling Downs development officer Jeff Newnham was accompanied to Warwick by Toowoomba players Nic Jones and Kyle Smith.

Newnham is a very experienced player and the current Coleman Medallist in the Darling Downs competition.

The students were introduced to the basic skills of the game and then participated in some modified games to practise their skills.

In past years, Warwick High has produced some fine AFL players who have continued their involvement in the sport with the Redbacks. Some past students have played for Brisbane and Victorian clubs.
