Langham Slashers Golf

Another frosty morning greeted a small field of golfers last Sunday to play for the RSL sponsored day, the ice on the ground didn't seem to bother Brett Donovan who posted a nett 19 to win the day from runner up Gordon Barker on nett 20, Pete Boney played good golf to have the best nett with a 41 off the bat and Pete also had the longest drive, Gordon Barker had the least putts, Dave Duroux picked up the only pin shot and Greg Owens was our Bradman ball winner for the day.

Next Sunday we will be on the front nine and I will have some firm dates for our weekend in Tenterfield. It's not too far away now so we need to be thinking about numbers so please let me know ASAP if you intend to go. Hope to see you all next week.

Warwick Men's Golf

LAST Saturday members played in the H&J Hotel Motel Char-Belas stableford event and the club again thanks these businesses for the continued support. As was the case last week the single figure golfers were at the forefront of things with young Rhys Farrell scoring the H&J trophy with a great score of 40 points.

Rhys continues his great form of recent months and is a perfect example of the old Gary Player adage that the more you practice the luckier you get. Rhys is now playing of a handicap of 6 and may reduce to 5 after this excellent round.

The runner up and winner of the Char Belas trophy was new member Ben Griffiths playing off a 9 handicap and Ben scored a great 38 points. The run-down winners were as follows: Messrs Roser, 38 McEvoy, 36 Morrison, 36 Murphy 36 and Porter 36. The pin shot winners were Geoff Hinze on the pro pin for 4 balls, Tim Sutton for 2 balls and Ross Bell for the remaining ball. The 7th pin went to Charlie Morrison, the 9th to Matty Tate and Geoff Hinze on the 16th. It was good to see Simon Pulley back home in Warwick and playing off a 5 handicap.

On Friday, the Red Rooster event was again played in perfect weather and thanks to Neil McCosker and the team at Red Rooster for their continued support of this popular event. The winner on Friday was regular player Brian Sullivan with 22 points to win comfortably from runner up Ross Kingston on 19. Run down winners were Messrs Whitsed, Morrisey, McEvoy, Hinze, Wilson and Gordon McKeen.

Good to see Sully and Ross take home the chicken as both play every Friday and are great supporters of the event. Next weekend we have the big two-day event sponsored by the generous people from Top Two Motorcycles and Yamaha and they deserve lots of support from the club.

The event on Saturday is a stroke event with gross and nett trophies and a presentation at 5pm and then on the Sunday the event is a stableford with a shotgun start at 12noon and again there will be a presentation of trophies at 5pm so let's have a great roll up and have plenty of members there for the presentation of trophies from the sponsors.

The following Sunday the 27th August is the Patrons Day Medley event with the event also the qualifying round for the mixed match play event, the Lane Cup so get your partners organised for that day as well.

Mel's days are always well attended as we had a field of 26 and her trophy was hotly contested as we had some really good scores. The winner was Thomasina Keogh, one of our new players, with a great score of 41. Anna Cox, with another excellent score of 38, took out runner-up. Ladies are reminded that we are to play in groups of three on a Saturday.

Next Wednesday is a single stableford for a voucher from KFC and we thank them for their monthly sponsorship and our new sponsors, Top Two Motorcycles, will be donating trophies for both Saturday and Sunday for the men and women so please support our weekend of golf. A reminder that Patron's Day is coming up on Sunday 27th which is a medley 4BBB stroke sponsored by our Patron, Rob Macdonald, with the top eight mixed pairs to qualify for the Lane Cup sponsored by Garry & Marg Adcock.

Allora Golf

NO results for last Fridays Percy's Fruit Duck Run, these will be put in next week's notes. Last Sunday we played a single stableford event for club trophies. The winner playing some blistering golf in the great conditions with a score of 44 pts was John Sparksman. I would've loved to have been there to see the presentation well done John. Runner up with an equally impressive round of golf coming in with 43 pts was 'Rolling' Ray O'Leary.

Great to see and our lone rundown winner was our favourite Irishman 'Scully', well done mate. Pins for the 4th, Kel Strange, 13th Jim Anderson, 7th Aaron Simpson and 16th John Ellwood. Approach on the 6th went to Wayne McKewan, 15th Tom Bartholomai. Congratulations to the winners and all players, thank you to our sponsors for the continued support and to our workers thank you.

While Johnny Sparksman was tearing the course apart a few of our members travelled to attend the Pittsworth Open in a field of nearly 70 players in near perfect conditions Allora member Andrew (Tom) Brown won the C Grade gross with a score of 87. I know it could have been even more impressive if your putter was working but congratulations and well done Tom.

This Friday the Percy's Fruit Duck run will be teeing off from 2pm all welcome to attend then Sunday is the Allora Pharmacy Monthly Medal teeing from 11.30 so don't forget your sand buckets and great golfing to you all
