Allora back road reopens after rail bridge damage
THE Allora back road has been reopened after damage to the railway bridge at Rosehill Rd was repaired by Queensland Rail.
Traffic movements were back to normal after the bridge was damaged by a truck transporting an excavator late on Monday afternoon.
Queensland Rail had said it expected the road to be reopened by 5pm yesterday. The bridge had been knocked out of alignment.
QR and the Department of Transport and Main Roads immediately cordoned off the bridge for safety reasons and diverted traffic.
The truck driver or its owner could be fined up to $8800 and hit with the bridge repair bill, but the final outcome would not be known for now as police were still investigating the incident.
It was not known if the truck driver would face a separate police charge.
The driver was taken to hospital for observation on Monday evening after the excavator tipped off the trailer during recovery.
He was in the cabin of the machine at the time.
