Allora bus stop to move

Planned works to relocate the Allora bus stop from its current location on Herbert Street around the corner into Warwick Street are scheduled to occur in the next three to four weeks.

Southern Downs Regional Council (SDRC) Works Department will undertake the project, at a cost of approximately $10,000, which is expected to take about a week to complete.  Traffic disruption is expected to be minimal only.

The bus stop is being moved as part of the construction of a new and much needed medical centre to be built for the community at 45 Herbert Street, Allora.   This project is being funded by the Australian Government.

The bus stop is currently located in front of the proposed allotment where the new medical centre is to be sited.

"In order to accommodate the new building, the bus stop will need to be relocated," advised Michael Bell, Council's Manager Parks and Major Projects.

"Main Roads approval has now been received for the relocation so Council can proceed with the scheduling of the works," Mr Bell said.

"We have also notified the bus company of the works to ensure that they are aware of the impending changes so that their service is not unduly disrupted."
