Allora wins in extra time
JUNIOR footballers and netballers across the Southern Downs gathered to battle the Brisbane Broncos Warwick RSL Challenge before they broke for school holidays on Friday.
Allora State School and St Mary’s were locked at full-time in the final of the league at the Warwick
Junior Rugby League fields where Allora just got on top to win in extra time.
There were 120 children aged 11 to 13 years from 10 schools competing in the league competition which convener Roy Nott said proved to be a very a successful event.
“The kids have been really looking forward to this competition and were eager to play today after it was cancelled due to the wet,” Nott said.
Across town at Barnes Park, 12 teams of junior netballers took to the courts, battling it out to be the best team on the
Southern Downs.
In the netball final the two top teams were from St Mary’s with their senior team eventually emerging victors over the school’s junior side to claim the title.
Nott said the football and netball were both very well attended, with children from across the region putting in a great effort.
“We would just like to thank the Brisbane Broncos and Warwick RSL for their continued support of the event,” Nott said.
