Ambassador flies family flag at footy club

THE GLASS name has long been associated with Wattles Rugby League Football Club and now another member of the family is stepping up to show the important role women play in the club.

Erin Glass is the 2018 Wattles Rugby League Football Club Ambassador, following in the footsteps of her grandparents and dad who are all life members.

She spent her childhood around the footy grounds and watching her own brother play, now she is pleased to have and opportunity to give back to the club.

Miss Glass said she was flattered to be approached to be the ambassador, which brought to life and idea she had in the back of her mind for quite some time.

"It's something I can say that I've carried on a tradition of sorts to carry on the Glass name throughout the club,” she said.

The 25-year-old is helping with fundraising and last weekend hosted a Ladies Day, which not only celebrated mothers and partners of players but also the women who volunteer their time.

"It's not only support to the club but to the players themselves, even the support from the sidelines, we're always out there cheering and doing what we can to encourage the boys,” she said.

Miss Glass said her main duty was to assist with fundraising, including a Golf and Bowls Day to be held on June 19 and races in September.

With a few home games left to see out her duties, Miss Glass said she would be happy to put her hand up for the role next year.

"It's something I can keep with me forever, it's something I can always say that I did what I could for the club and doing my part,” she said.
