Ambrose coming home to V8s with American team

MOTORSPORT: The V8 Supercars Championship will have a real American feel next season after NASCAR stalwart Team Penske announced it would be joining with Dick Johnson Racing.

DJR Team Penske will compete with Ford Falcons in the 2015 championship, with Tasmanian Marcos Ambrose driving a V8 car for the first time since the second of his back-to-back titles in 2004.

Ambrose enjoyed his time in America but said he was looking forward to getting behind the wheel on home soil again.

"This is a great opportunity to return home to a place that I love in a series where I've experienced a lot of success," said Ambrose (pictured), who has earned two career victories at the highest level of NASCAR competition, the Sprint Cup Series.

"It will be an honour to race for two motorsport legends in Roger Penske and Dick Johnson."
