Angie gets to drive the Porsche for son Matt
GREAT to see Matt Campbell's mum Angie having the opportunity to drive around in a new Porsche for the next year.
The Porsche was part of Matt's prize for winning the Porsche Carrera Cup in Australia last year and seeing he is in Germany, she has the keys and I am sure will enjoy the experience.
The promising young Warwick driver will be home in September and October during a break in the Porsche Mobil 1 Supercup series and the Porsche will be his mode of transport at that time.
Matt would be driving in Australia this year but the year in Germany is because he won a scholarship presented to a driver judged in exhaustive testing as the most promising young driver in the world.
While Matt is doing the motorsport driving, there is no doubt that Angie and other Campbell family members have had a major impact on a driver who has the motorsport world talking, from world champion Mark Webber down.
Professional sport is not a walk in the park, Matt flew to his new base at Stuttgart, Germany, at the weekend and is already at a fitness camp this week.
He might only be driving a car but I suspect his fitness training will be a lot tougher than any of our footy teams'.
I hope former Darling Downs schoolboys hockey player Matt took his stick to Germany, as the 11-man sport is pretty big in that part of the world. Germany and Australia are two of the powers of world hockey.
