MARYVALE boy Angus Bowles has come through his operation in Houston, Texas, with a good report.

Family friend Denis Reynolds, of the Crown Hotel, Maryvale, said he had spoken to Angus' father Phil Bowles on the phone and the boy was sitting up and having a glass of lemonade after the seven-hour operation which could only be done in America.

"They had Angus walking around the hospital the day after the operation. He is eating and drinking well and we are all hoping to see a major improvement in his health and the end of seizures which were happening each day.

Last year, a cricket match between Lew Cooper's XI and a Maryvale XI and a dinner on the night helped raise $11,000 to help Angus and his family.

Other donations have been made with the most recent fund-raiser a pig on the spit at the Crown Hotel.

"The community support has been great," Mr Reynolds said.

"The family has been blown away by what everyone has done."
