Anita's ready to cut it with blokes

AFTER 10 years in the hairdressing industry, it is safe to say Anita Washbourne knows her way around a head of hair.

And now she is running the show at King St Barber. Having worked for the previous owner for four months, when the chance came up to take the reins, Ms Washbourne jumped at the opportunity.

"I've always wanted to do it and this was just the right time," she said.

Ms Washbourne was born and bred in Warwick and while she took a few breaks from the hairdressing gig, something just kept drawing her back.

"I just love it; it's just me," she said.

At the moment Ms Washbourne is manning the fort by herself, with the help of her friend if she is ill, but said she would quite possibly be looking for another hairdresser to join her team later down the track.

"Maybe in a year or so, depending on how it all goes," she said.

"I have thought about bringing in the ladies component, but I don't want to draw away from the men.

"They come here because they don't have to be with the ladies and wear pretty pink clips in their hair."

Opening times

King St Barber is open 8.30am-5pm weekdays, and 8am-noon Saturdays.

No appointments needed, just rock up.
