Council dismisses raceway complaint

IT IS by no means a new topic or out of the ordinary for Stanthorpe's Carnell Raceway to be discussed at a council meeting - however it is unusual for the issue to be dealt with in less than five minutes.

Yesterday councillors were simply asked to endorse advice a council officer had provided to a Carnell Raceway neighbour, who felt that motorcycle practice sessions should not be allowed to take place at the racetrack.

Council received a letter from a Rifle Range Rd resident asking them to look into whether or not motorcycle practice session were allowed to be held at Carnell Raceway.

The council advised the resident that motorcycle racing is acceptable as it was not excluded in the original 1996 Court Order.

However this issue is tiny compared to all else the Stanthorpe and District Sporting Car Club is going through at the moment.

The club is playing a waiting game with the court and hoping it is successful in being granted extra race days.
