Armani watch for $80 a bad deal
A MAN who bought a stolen Armani watch because it was too good a deal to pass up has been given immediate parole from prison.
Cyril Douglas Harris, 31, yesterday pleaded guilty at the Ipswich Magistrates Court to possessing tainted property, fraud, failing to take reasonable care of a syringe and receiving tainted property.
The court heard Harris pawned a stolen iPod at Cash Converters Inala claiming he was the owner. Police later searched Harris' house and found an Armani watch that had been reported stolen.
He told police he had been approached by a man at a train station who offered to sell him the Armani watch for $80.
He said he believed the watch was worth $400 and was in "no position to turn down such a good deal".
Harris was sentenced to six months prison, however, he was given an immediate release on parole.
