Police remind drivers: arriving safely is the best gift
"ARE we there yet" is the catchphrase of any decent road trip involving cars full of eager kids, possibly a pet and a tightly-packed boot.
For some families the car trip to the destination can be more hassle than it is worth but Big 4 Holiday Parks say with their list of survival tips, it doesn't have to be.
Tips include playing your favourite songs, making regular stops, keeping both the car and kids full, brain teasers and in-car movies.
Warwick Police station officer-in-charge Stewart Day urged motorists to drive safely this holiday season.
"Motorists are urged to have their vehicles serviced and tyres checked prior to commencing their holiday journey," Senior Sergeant Day said.
"Driver Reviver sites will operate and Gladfield's will be open during the Christmas and New Year periods.
"Motorists should make use of these facilities."
Snr Sgt Day said there would be a large police presence in the lead-up to and including the holidays.
"Police will be performing RBTs targeting drink driving," he said.
"The fatal five now includes talking or texting on mobile phones.
"Police urge all motorists to not touch their mobile phone for any purposes while they are driving a vehicle.
"This also includes being stopped at intersections and traffic lights."
Snr Sgt Day said Warwick police officers hoped everyone arrived at their destinations safely.
"Christmas should be a time of happiness with family and friends, and not a reminder of tragic events," he said.
"We want all Warwick residents to ensure they stay safe on the roads and we will be out there trying our best to ensure that happens."
