RSL goes mental as anything for Aussie pop pioneers

ART pop pioneers Mental As Anything are shaking off their sandals to celebrate the release of their new single in Warwick this week.

The Mentals will take to the stage at the Warwick RSL on Thursday night, performing their new single Shake off Your Sandals for fans.

The band recently signed a new deal with Universal Music, launching a new chapter in their 40-year career.

Singer Andrew 'Greedy' Smith said the band had been recording new material for the first time in years.

"In the studio with producer engineer Steve James we will pump out a new single every five months," he said.

"No new album for us. Just singles!

"We are quietly proud of where this project is taking us - our recording heritage in step with our future."

Smith said the band had toured continuously for 38 years and wasn't stopping yet.

"Hello Beijing, hello UK, hello Sweden and hello a venue near you. Bring it on." he said.

The Mentals will play some of their biggest hits on Thursday night including The Nips Are Getting Bigger, If You Leave Me Can I Come Too and Live It Up.

The concert will start at 8pm. Tickets are $25 each, available by phoning the RSL on 4661 8547.
