Artists urged to ‘explore’ Warwick gallery morning tea

WARWICK Art Gallery welcomed members of the Warwick Artists Group to the gallery with morning tea on Friday.

Gallery director Karina Devine addressed the members, encouraging them to explore their art.

"There is a sense of excitement from discovering something new," she said.

"Don't be afraid to branch out - you never know where it will take you."

Ms Devine spoke of her experiences in the art world, offering advice on preparing work for exhibition with practical tips.

The Warwick Art Gallery is working with the Warwick Artists Group to bring the My Passion exhibition to the gallery.

The exhibition is set to run from April 14 to May 22, featuring pieces by the Warwick artists.

Ms Devine said it was great to see the development of local artists and encouraged the artists to continue to challenge themselves.

"It is very important we have local content but at the same time it needs to be more than just a run-of-the-mill exhibition of local content," she said.

"We really do appreciate the Warwick Artists Group who challenge themselves when they come in to do their exhibitions.

"It's a life-long learning opportunity and to challenge yourself is what makes it good for your health."

The Warwick Artists Group will have a full exhibition in the gallery on the theme, with a "flight"- theme collaborative display in the foyer.

Ms Devine said the community could expect a full display, with previous exhibitions featuring about 80 works.

My Passion explores the things, places and people the artists love or loathe, with the community given the opportunity to interpret each artist's passion through their chosen medium.
