Assumption College Warwick win battle of cities

CRICKET: Assumption College won the battle of the cities when they beat Toowoomba school St Mary's in a seniors cricket match at Queens Park.

Tom Morris was the star all-rounder for Assumption while Caleb King and Mitch Watson bowled well. Brad Grayson also batted well for the winning team.

St Mary's beat Assumption in the junior game with Sean Bryson the best all rounder for Assumption. Lincoln Hay also batted well.

There was a mix of regular club cricketers and students who don't play week-in, week-out in the Assumption teams.

The games between the two schools were played for the first time this term but Assumption teacher Bob Bell said the plan was for two cricket games in two age groups between the schools each year.

Bell and Malcolm Langerak were the two Assumption cricket coaches.

In other sports, Assumption College narrowly missed out on the final of the open Scots PGC junior sevens rugby tournament last weekend.
