Assumption in open league game against Toowoomba
ASSUMPTION College is aiming to make it two wins from two games in open rugby league when they clash with the Wilsonton campus of Toowoomba State High School this afternoon in Toowoomba.
In round 1, Assumption led Warwick High 22-20 with 10 minutes to go and held on to win the game.
Centre and captain Alex Stewart played strongly for Assumption and was well supported by halfback Tom Morris.
Coach Bob Bell said he wasn't keen to single out any of his forwards as the whole Assumption pack did their job.
On the Warwick State High School side of the half-way line, Mark Fowler rated fullback Chris Wall, prop Jacob Grayson and Bradley Morrish as his best in the narrow loss.
"It was a willing game between the two sides and there were no injuries which is a great thing," Fowler said.
The winner of the Darling Downs competition will play the winner of the South-west area in the regional final at a stage of the competition when it becomes knockout.
At this stage of the competition, all teams will play each other team in their pool.
