Assumption Year 9s host senior folk
THE generation gap was well and truly bridged at the Warwick senior citizens morning tea.
After an early morning of preparation yesterday the group of Year 9 Assumption College students helped host and entertain more than 130 senior citizens.
Teacher Vicki Wockner said of the Year 9s' effort: "It's great experience from them, they prepare and serve food as well as socialise with the community."
Senior citizens from Akooramak and Killarney aged-care centres, Blue Care and from around town were welcomed to the morning of musical entertainment and food.
Vice president of the senior citizens association Mick McEniery said the monthly event had continued for more than 30 years.
"It's a great way to show that senior citizens are socially active in the community," he said.
"The morning is open and free for seniors to join."
Mr McEniery also commended Assumption's home economics students.
