Attacker flees after bashing up bouncer
A SECURITY guard was punched multiple times at a licensed premises in Palmerin St between 1:20am and 1:30am Saturday.
The culprit later fled the scene. However, police continue to investigate and are reviewing CCTV footage of the incident.
Motorcyclists were involved in a number of alleged offences on Warwick roads over the weekend.
A youth, 17, and 56-year-old man have been given notices to appear in court over separate incidents occurring in Aspinall St on Friday, and Short St on Sunday respectively on charges including driving an unregistered motorcycle.
In the early hours of Friday morning a break-in was attempted at the Warwick State High school canteen.
Though the culprits did not gain entry a shutter was damaged in the process.
About 1:54am Sunday, a 21-year-old man was taken to the watchhouse for allegedly obstructing police at licensed premises.
The Gold Coast man allegedly attempted to prevent police gathering evidence from a witness.
"On the weekend number of sports carnivals took place in town. Overall the crowed was well behaved. However, it was ruined by a small minority," Warwick Senior Sergeant Stewart Day said.
"Warwick police are committed to reducing assaults and violence, continuing work with licensed premises in town," he said.
A number of unlawful entry offences were committed in the Stanthorpe area over the past week with vehicles being the primary target. On the afternoon of February 25, while the occupant of a residence in Pitt St left for a short time, someone entered and tried to steal a vehicle.
The offenders were unsuccessful and fled the scene. Police were investigating the offence located cannabis growing at the address and a 43-year-old man was charged with producing dangerous drugs.
A quantity of fuel was siphoned from a vehicle in a carport in Lock St on the night of February 27.
A warrant executed in Dalcouth Rd resulted in the location and seizure of a number of mature cannabis plants and other material.
As a result, a 28-year-old resident was charged with producing dangerous drugs as well as further drug related offences.
