Attempted murder charge

BREAKING: A MAN has been charged with attempted murder after a woman was assaulted at the AO Adult Shop on Palmerin St in Warwick last night.

It will be alleged by police that around 6:40pm a man inside the store attacked a female attendant by placing a cord around her neck.

After a struggle the man ran from the scene, pursued by witnesses.

Police conducted a rapid search and are understood to have located a suspect in the vicinity of Queens Park.

He was arrested and taken into custody before 7.30pm and is now in the Warwick watchhouse.

The 48-year-old Warwick woman who was assaulted was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries to her neck.

The 47-year-old Warwick man arrested by police has also been charged with enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence and possession of a knife in a public place.

He is expected to appear at the Warwick Magistrates Court on Monday.

Scene of Crime police officers were gathering evidence at the premises last night.
