Attention to detail earns award

CUTTING corners is not an option and providing a top quality product is their main concern.

Stanthorpe's Howard and Sons was recognised for its attention to detail at the recent 2012 Qld Timber Industry Awards where the fourth generation family business won an award for best regional frame and truss operation.

Howard and Sons managing director Terry Howard said he was astounded to win the award against stiff competition from larger companies.

"I was completely blown away when we won the award because I didn't think a small country town could do it," he said.

"We were up against frame and truss plants from Toowoomba, Townsville and Bundaberg so the award means everything to me."

Mr Howard said judges were impressed by the efficiency of the factory as well as the high level of safety standards.

"Quality is important and I don't believe in cutting corners to put out a truss which is not top quality," he said.

"All our work is based on quality and service so we don't have a lot of call backs with errors."
