Auctions a refined process
THE hammer may not have fallen at the Manorina property auction at the weekend, but selling agent LJ Hooker's Leanne Cameron said a sale wasn't far off.
Auctioneer Michael Hosking started the bidding at $700,000 but the one registered bidder wouldn't bite and it was passed in at $800,000.
But Ms Cameron said there were many interested buyers waiting in the wings to hear if the unique Cambanoora Gorge property was still up for grabs.
Ms Cameron said she hoped people would change their mindsets about auctions, which were no longer fire sales.
"People think they are hurried things like clearance sales but there is a refinement with auctions," she said.
"But it does tell buyers the sellers are serious.
"Sometimes serious buyers don't always have everything ready by the auction but we generally sell quickly post auction."
LJ Hooker will have more unique properties going under the hammer this month with three properties in the one street at Allora listed for the one day and a three-level, seven-bedroom and seven-bathroom residence at Killarney also up for grabs.
