Aussie entertainers set to rock out at flood-relief concert

A GREAT line up of Australian entertainment is set to rock out in Rockhampton on Saturday as part of the Rise and Shine Queensland tour.

Premier Campbell Newman said the Government's partnership with the Queensland Music Festival would deliver musical tours to regions hit by devastating weather earlier this year.

"I invite the community of Rockhampton to come together to enjoy a free afternoon of family activities, a barbecue and live music," Mr Newman said.

"Country singer Beccy Cole, rocker Ella Hooper and alt-country duo Texas Tea will take to the stage for an afternoon of great Aussie entertainment.

"It will be the perfect opportunity to take a break, reflect on the year and celebrate Rockhampton's community spirit."

Rise and Shine Queensland, which tours to 10  communities across the state, is being programmed by Queensland Music Festival, led by Artistic Director James Morrison.

"I'm thrilled we have the chance to send so many wonderful performers to join these communities in their celebrations," Mr Morrison said.

Rise and Shine Queensland will be held from 1pm, Saturday 4 May, at Rockhampton Heritage Village.

Rise and Shine Queensland is proudly supported by the Queensland Government and Queensland Music Festival, with the support of ABC Local Radio Queensland.
