Australia Day carnival re-drawn

DUE to the flooding and unavailability of some cricket grounds in the Warwick district, the Warwick Cricket Association has re-drawn matches for the Australia Day Cricket carnival.

The major change sees all 30 teams being pooled in groups of three at each venue on the first day.

Each team will play the other two teams and have a bye on the Saturday. Games start times at 8.30am, 11.30am and 2.30pm on the Saturday.

Teams that win two games will progress to the finals on the Sunday, plus the next-best team on net run rate if there is an odd number of qualifiers.

All teams which fail to qualify will play in the Best of the Rest round from 8.30am Sunday.

Finals games will start 11.30am Sunday.

All the games will be 20/20 games. Games will stop once a result is achieved on the first day, but on Sunday games will be played out in both innings.

This re-draw ensures the famous WCA/Total Cool Solutions Australia Day Cricket Carnival will not have to be replayed at a later date.

Rules changes for Australia Day cricket carnival:

There is a maximum of four overs per bowler;

Two fielders will be allowed outside the circle in the first six overs;

A maximum of five fielders outside the circle after six overs.

A free hit on the next legal delivery after a front foot no-ball only. (Captain may change field for this ball. )
