Australia Day golf action set to hot up in Warwick

GOLF: Prizes will be on offer for the best dressed team at the Warwick Golf Club Australia Day event on Friday.

The two-person ambrose is sponsored by Warwick Real Estate and is open to golfers and non-golfers.

Club men's captain Tony Kahler said the event was one of the best each year at the Warwick Golf Club.

"In a two-person ambrose, each player tees off and then select the best ball position for their next shots. It is the same format on the green with both players aiming to sink a putt from the same spot,” he said.

"There will be prizes for nett winners and three runner-up prizes as well as the best dressed and pin shots winners.

"We would like to see 70 players tee off, men and women can play as teams or we cater for all men and all women's teams.”

Non golfers automatically get a handicap of 18 for men and 27 for women. There will be a shotgun start at noon.

Bookings with the pro shop or registrations on the day at 11.30am. Players unable to tee off at noon can register at the pro shop for a 7am start.

The club has its opening day with a mixed event on February 4.
