Awards hold real value for local businesses

MARK BULLIVANT of Independent Coffee Professionals is a two-time winner at the Ballina Coast and Hinterland Northern Star Business Awards, having taken out the Trade and Manufacturing Award and the Industry and Commerce Award in recent years.

Mr Bullivant says the process of submitting to the awards is almost as beneficial to his business as the actual winning.

"I have goals I set for my business and certain milestones I set out to achieve," Mr Bullivant says.

"The submissions help you to take stock and see if you are on track. It's interesting to see your business and what you've achieved there in black and white.

"Winning the award is really encouraging too. It gives you a really good feeling to know that you are recognised in this way."

Although he is not much of a party-goer, Mr Bullivant says the awards night is one he enjoys.

"It's great to see all the people who sponsor these awards," he says.
