Bikes Thru a Bar event brings Minister and bikies together

IF CARS and motorbikes take your fancy then you won't want to miss the Bikes Thru a Bar event tomorrow.

Bikes Thru a Bar is raising money for RACQ CareFlight, the Leukaemia Foundation and the Ulysses Club Arthritis Research Foundation.

The event will be held at the Bony Mountain Reserve in Bony Mountain and will include a bike show and shine and a car show and shine.

The bike show and shine will be judged by Inspector Ben Marcus from the Warwick police, with the car show and shine to be judged by Southern Downs Mayor Peter Blundell.

Queensland Health Minister Lawrence Springborg will also be in attendance for a VIP luncheon to be held after 1pm.

Warwick Ulysses Club secretary and event co-ordinator Elaine Wenham says the event could be a record- breaker.

"We are trying to beat the record of 1279 bikes through the bar record set at the Aratula pub five or six years ago," she said.

The event will also host a "bike gymkhana" with activities such as barrel racing and a team penning event.

There will be a variety of food vans, coffee vendors and stalls open. The bikes will start going through the bar at 9am tomorrow.
