Barrel racers high in praise of rodeo surface
BARREL RACING: Beck Koch and Emma Douglas competed in the Warwick Gold Buckle Barrel Racing round at the Warwick Showgrounds and vows to be back for more action.
Koch hails from Kulpi and said she would definitely return to Warwick.
"It is a good safe surface in Warwick,” she said.
"I also compete in breakaway roping and want to win a title in the National Rodeo Association and then compete in the APRA.”
Douglas is from Rockhampton and has travelled as far as Tamworth for barrel racing.
She just competes in the barrel race and came to Warwick on Sunday after placing in an event at Dalby on Saturday.
Asked if a place at Dalby was enough to cover the cost of the fuel for the return trip from Rockhampton, Douglas said "no”
"But I love barrel racing,” she said.
Barrel racing will be at the Warwick Showgrounds on October 24-27 when the four rounds of the Warwick APRA National Finals Rodeo are held over four rounds.
